Nvidia and Microsoft announced a partnership called « AI for nuclear » at the CERAWeek conference, combining Nvidia’s simulation and AI technologies with Microsoft’s generative AI capabilities and Azure cloud platform. The goal is to slash permitting times by over 90% and save tens of millions of dollars annually for nuclear developers. Aalo Atomics, an early adopter, reported a 92% reduction in permitting times and annual savings of roughly $80 million. The technologies involved include PhysicsNeMo, Omniverse, and CUDA-X on Nvidia’s side, alongside Azure, Copilot, and Planetary Computer on Microsoft’s side. This partnership reinforces Nvidia’s strategy to position itself beyond chips by offering simulation platforms and digital twin infrastructure to entirely new industries.
