‘Not fast enough’ – Starknet eyes Ethereum exit amid quantum fears

Starknet, an Ethereum Layer 2 solution, is considering becoming a standalone Layer 1 blockchain. The project team, led by Eli Ben-Sasson, believes Ethereum is not moving fast enough toward quantum resistance, citing its 2029 timeline. Starknet targets 2027 to become fully quantum-resistant, driven by recent AI mathematical breakthroughs raising concerns about current cryptography. The STRK token rallied 50% in 48 hours as investors viewed the L1 migration plan as a bullish catalyst. Meanwhile, Starknet’s total value locked has declined by nearly half, dropping from $310M to $160M.
