North Korean hackers gained access to systems at 1,640 companies across 57 countries, primarily targeting cryptocurrency wallets and blockchain infrastructure. Between 700 and 800 organizations suffered damaging intrusions that gave attackers extensive access to corporate servers, cloud infrastructure, developer credentials, and digital assets. Researcher Vangelis Stykas spent 22 months analyzing the hackers’ command systems, reviewing approximately 5 terabytes of data to identify potential victims. Named entities included Coinbase, Uniswap Labs, Boston Children’s Hospital, as well as government bodies in Italy and Flanders. The hackers approached software developers with fake employment offers featuring high salaries to trick victims into downloading malware, a tactic associated with the Contagious Interview campaign.
