Nine companies, including Broadcom, UnitedHealth Group and Verizon, have formally objected to having their shares tokenized on OKXICE, a joint venture between crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, the parent of the New York Stock Exchange. These nine companies represent roughly 14% of the 63 stocks initially planned for tokenization, having exercised their opt-out rights within the 30-day window provided under the SEC Innovation Exemption framework. The companies raised concerns about potential impacts on their stock prices, liquidity and investor confusion from tokenized equity trading on venues they have no affiliation with. OKXICE intends to proceed with tokenizing dozens of other stocks, including Nvidia, Apple and Microsoft, offering 24/7 permissioned trading settled with stablecoins. The platform is not yet live and must first clear its regulatory waiting period.
