NextEra Energy reported a backlog of 35.1 GW in renewable energy and storage projects as of Q2 2026, enough to power roughly 26 million U.S. homes. The company launched a data center hub initiative targeting at least 15 GW of new generation capacity dedicated to these hubs by 2035, with an upside case exceeding 30 GW. About 30% of recent backlog additions came from hyperscale clients like Google and Meta, which are now requesting multi-gigawatt capacities on accelerated timelines. NextEra’s development pipeline through 2032 includes up to 41.5 GW of solar, 43 GW of battery storage, and 4 to 8 GW of new natural gas generation.
