National Australia Bank, one of Australia’s big four banks, is preparing to test the security and operational guardrails of its agentic AI platform. The bank has already deployed OpenAI-based agents for document processing, cutting review time from 45 minutes to approximately 1 minute per trust deed, a 97% reduction. The institution has standardized AI tooling for roughly 6,000 developers and reached a 90% adoption rate for agentic AI applications across its divisions. This move puts NAB at the forefront of a question every bank will eventually have to answer: what happens when AI can make decisions without a human in the loop?
