Nasdaq Embraces Crypto-Style Trading With 23-Hour Market Plan

Nasdaq plans to offer 23-hour trading five days a week, adding an overnight session from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. ET on top of its existing extended hours from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. The launch is targeted for Sunday, December 6, 2026, pending SEC approval and readiness of the Securities Information Processor. BitGo CEO Mike Belshe and crypto analyst Nate Geraci highlighted that traditional financial markets are adopting models pioneered by cryptocurrency exchanges over the years. Crypto exchanges already operate continuously, and equity perpetual futures reached 250 billion dollars in monthly volume in July, with Binance accounting for roughly 76% of that activity.
