A 73-year-old retiree from Moscow withdrew 13.3 million rubles, worth about 150,000 euros, after fake officials convinced her that her Gosuslugi account had been hacked. She handed the cash to a 22-year-old courier, who then deposited it at a crypto exchange in Moscow City. Police raided the exchange and seized more than 5 million rubles in cash, counting machines, documents and a paper shredder, then arrested four men from the Volgograd region and a fifth suspect at the airport. Two other couriers, aged 18 and 19, were carrying more than 3 million rubles. Authorities have not said whether the retiree will recover her money, while the seized funds cover only about 60% of the 13.3 million rubles stolen.
