Microsoft unveiled on Friday a redesigned Copilot AI « super app » that consolidates its scattered Copilot products to target business customers with autonomous AI agents. The app integrates bots, task automation tools, coding capabilities, and a new Autopilot feature that can handle project updates, track deadlines, send reminders, and gather materials on its own, plugging into Office tools like Excel and Word. While a free version exists, full capabilities and the most autonomous features require Microsoft subscriptions with usage-based billing. Microsoft reported that Microsoft 365 Copilot has surpassed 30 million paid seats, with net seats doubling quarter over quarter as of July. The launch comes as OpenAI and Anthropic push into enterprise offerings, intensifying competition for Microsoft’s productivity business.
