Microsoft has activated its fourth Azure data center region in India, named India South Central and located in Hyderabad, operational since August 6. The facility increases the company’s total investment in cloud and AI infrastructure to $20.5 billion, featuring three availability zones. The Hyderabad data center complements existing regions in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune, with early customers including Adani Group, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank, and PB Pay. This expansion supports India’s regulatory requirements for local banking data storage and aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national economic strategy prioritizing artificial intelligence development.
