Meta developed a swarm of AI agents that outperformed a team of 100 human engineers on specific tasks, according to Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang. The announcement was made at the Y Combinator Startup School 2026 conference. The infrastructure relies on simple tools: persistent memory stored in markdown files and task scheduling through cron jobs. Wang emphasized that the key to success lies in robust evaluation methods and the agents’ ability to improve without human intervention. Meta acquired Scale AI, the company founded by Wang, for $14.3 billion in June 2025. Meta’s consumer-facing agent Muse is scheduled for public release in September 2026.
