MetaMask Staking announced on Lido’s research forum that it is exiting its Ethereum validators within the Lido protocol, citing a security incident as the trigger. The exit process typically takes between 15 and 45 days, in line with Lido’s standard exit procedures. No impact on stETH holders has been reported so far. Similar precautionary exits have occurred before, notably by node operator Kiln in September 2025. The rationale behind such exits is to mitigate slashing risk: if an operator’s infrastructure is compromised, the keys controlling the validators could be at risk.
