Meta is considering allowing fully autonomous AI-powered accounts on Facebook, a move that could fundamentally reshape the relationship between the platform and its nearly three billion users. Meta’s CTO Andrew Bosworth has been central to driving AI adoption across the company’s products, with significant integrations since 2023 and 2024. If confirmed, this policy would significantly boost blockchain-based decentralized identity projects like ENS, Worldcoin, Lens, and Farcaster, which position themselves as alternatives for distinguishing humans from machines online. From an advertising perspective, the proliferation of AI accounts would pose a major challenge for advertisers seeking to verify that their ads reach real people. As of now, Meta has announced no official policy regarding the allowance of such accounts.
