Meta joins with group of companies to tame ‘chaos’ of doing business with AI bots

Meta, Walmart, Stripe and other companies have published a personal agent protocol, an open standard designed to define how AI agents interact with businesses. Led by Bret Taylor, chairman of OpenAI and co-founder of enterprise AI startup Sierra, the protocol should help businesses identify AI agents and better control access to their services. Meta launched Muse in September, which became the most downloaded AI agent app on Apple’s App Store, with millions of users in the U.S. and rapid growth. Amazon is among the companies that have blocked Meta’s agents, citing concerns about website scraping. OpenAI and Anthropic are not yet participating, although Taylor expects their future involvement.
