Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg sides with Nvidia’s Huang on AI safety and slowdown debate

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, took a stance aligned with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in the AI safety debate, rather than following Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s perspective. In a post on X and other social media platforms, Zuckerberg said that AI labs that fail to focus on alignment will fall behind, stating that trust and alignment are becoming the most important capabilities to differentiate agents and models. This position opposes the essay published by Amodei last weekend, in which he called for slowing the pace of AI model improvements, an option endorsed by Sam Altman but criticized by President Donald Trump. Zuckerberg and Huang share the view that companies are incentivized to prevent potential problems due to significant liability risks, favoring a market-driven approach over government regulation.
