Marvell Technology (NASDAQ : MRVL) announced on October 12, 2026 its second-generation Structera X CXL memory expanders, the 3406 and 3506 models, the first devices in the industry to offer six memory channels for the CXL 3.2 standard. Each controller supports up to 9 terabytes of DDR4 memory or 6 terabytes of DDR5, with maximum bandwidth of 256 GB/s over PCIe 6.0 x16 links and four-host connectivity. The integrated LZ4 compression boosts usable memory capacity by 2 to 3 times. The devices are expected to enter sampling in Q1 2027, following live demonstrations at the OCP Global Summit from October 12 to 15, 2026. These expanders target AI inference workloads, specifically the growing KV-cache memory demands of large language models.
