Manchester City has approached FC Barcelona to sign 19-year-old centre-back Pau Cubarsí, but the Catalan club firmly refused any negotiation, declaring the player untouchable. The English club had already submitted multiple proposals between March and May 2026, including player-plus-cash offers involving Omar Marmoush and Rico Lewis, valued between 70 and 90 million euros. Barcelona rejected all these approaches by citing the player’s release clause, estimated at 500 million euros. Cubarsí is contracted until June 2029, giving Barcelona considerable negotiating leverage. The young Spaniard, who was the breakout star of the 2026 FIFA World Cup where he was named best young player of the tournament, made his professional debut in January 2024 at just 17 years old.
