Macquarie Group, Australia’s largest investment bank with a market cap exceeding $50 billion, reduced its position in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) by 62% during the second quarter of 2026. The firm now holds approximately 1.6 million shares worth between $53 million and $55 million, down from about 4.139 million shares valued at roughly $159 million at the end of Q1. This marks the second consecutive quarter of reduction, following a 19% cut in Q1. Macquarie has not publicly explained the rationale behind these sales, which could reflect client redemptions or an active de-risking strategy.
