Livret A, electricity, crypto taxation: the summer 2026 reforms impacting your wallet

The Livret A interest rate rose from 1.5% to 1.7% on August 1st, benefiting 58 million holders of this popular savings account, while regulated electricity tariffs increased by an average of 2.5%, adding approximately 26 euros per year for a household consuming 4.5 megawatt-hours. The transitional period for the European MiCA regulation ended on July 1st, requiring all crypto asset service providers to hold an approval from the AMF or another European authority to operate in France. The Council of Ministers ratified the OECD CARF agreement on July 27th, establishing automatic exchange of crypto asset information between tax administrations worldwide. Deputy Paul Midy and 91 parliamentarians filed a bill on July 24th to align cryptocurrency taxation with stock taxation, notably by allowing loss carryforwards over ten years.
