US hints at more yen intervention: Five things to know in Bitcoin this week

Bitcoin hovers around $63,000 at the start of the first full week of August as investors react to the Coldcard hardware wallet hack that has drained nearly $90 million in BTC. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent hinted at further coordinated interventions to support the yen, after USD/JPY reached nearly 164 last week, in the first joint operation since 1998. Thursday’s US nonfarm payrolls data is the key macroeconomic event of the week, following disappointing June figures showing only 57,000 jobs added versus 114,000 expected. Geopolitically, prospects of a US-Iran deal sent oil prices tumbling more than 8% on Monday, while technical analysis shows Bitcoin facing resistance at the 50-month exponential moving average around $65,827.
