Approximately $103.4 million were stolen from around 530 wallets across seven blockchains, with three-quarters of the amount in USDT on Tron, according to investigation platform YFarmX. Tether froze $10 million in USDT on the first day, but the thief circumvented the blacklist by converting funds to USDD and then to ether via THORChain. The money then went through seven waves of Tornado Cash deposits before being laundered through Zcash shielded pools, where YFarmX claims to have linked all 108 withdrawals to their original lots. Ledger states that confirmed cases involve devices sold by authorized reseller CryptoBilis, where an unauthorized hardware implant was discovered.
