Labor Department taps Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI to build an AI jobs data hub

The US Department of Labor is building an AI Workforce Hub, a centralized platform designed to track how artificial intelligence is reshaping employment. The project involves approximately 40 private organizations, including Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI, alongside federal agencies such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Census Bureau. The platform, expected to launch by mid-2026, aims to provide policymakers with actual data on AI’s impact on jobs, wages, and skills demand. The bipartisan Workforce Transparency Act (S.4476), introduced in May 2026, seeks to institutionalize this data collection effort into law to ensure its permanence.
