A federal judge denied xAI’s request to pause Minnesota’s ban on AI-generated non-consensual intimate imagery. The law, HF 1606, takes effect on August 1, 2026, with penalties of up to $500,000 per violation. Minnesota becomes the first state to impose direct liability on AI companies for nudification capabilities. xAI, Elon Musk’s AI company, challenged the law on constitutional grounds, arguing it is excessively broad.
