Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and Blue Origin, says he understands why socialism is gaining traction in America, as the housing affordability crisis is real. In an interview with Fox News, he said politicians are blaming “greedy landlords” instead of addressing a basic supply-and-demand problem, criticizing government policies that subsidize demand while constraining supply, citing Austin as a positive example. By the end of 2025, a U.S. household needed at least $120,800 annually to afford the median-priced home, up from $68,700 five years earlier, with only 32% of households meeting that threshold. A Gallup poll shows 55% of Americans view capitalism positively and 43% view socialism positively, a record high since 2010, with a stark generational divide: 57% of 18-34 year-olds view socialism positively versus only 34% of those 55 and older.
