He argues that AI-driven productivity gains, which could reach double digits across multiple sectors, would create labor shortages rather than mass unemployment. This position puts him at odds with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI leader Sam Altman, both of whom have warned about AI-related job displacement. Amazon has cut approximately 30,000 corporate roles over the past 12 months, which Bezos attributes to pandemic-era over-hiring rather than AI automation.
