Intel stock rises as company plans to increase CPU prices for third time in a year

Intel shares climbed approximately 3% in premarket trading on September 8, reaching around $98.64, after the company announced a roughly 10% price increase on its PC processors set to take effect around October 5. This marks the third consecutive hike since late 2025, following adjustments in Q1 2026 and July 2026. Under CEO Lip-Bu Tan, Intel is now prioritizing gross margin growth over aggressive market share expansion, reportedly planning to wind down its lower-margin Small Core processor line. Server CPU average selling prices jumped roughly 48% year-on-year in Q2 2026, and the overall PC market is forecasted to decline slightly in 2027.
