Intel has begun distributing its D-Series data center GPUs to customers for testing. The flagship D270 model, formerly codenamed Crescent Island, is designed for AI inference and agentic workloads. The chip delivers approximately 1.3 PFLOPs of peak compute at FP8 precision with a 350W thermal design power, featuring 32 Xe3P cores and 256 XMX engines. Intel is betting on LPDDR5X memory up to 480 GB rather than raw bandwidth, with a PCIe Gen5 air-cooled form factor. Customer sampling is targeted for the second half of 2026, with OEM partners including ASUS, Dell and HPE.
