Arthur Hayes outlined Flop Network’s derivatives market design, which aims to turn artificial intelligence computing power into a tradable commodity. The BitMEX co-founder and Flop Labs CEO proposed measuring the computing power delivered for each AI inference task and using transaction data to establish a benchmark price denominated in FLOP tokens. Hayes said a liquid computing power market would enable derivatives based on that exchange rate. BCG estimated that the AI compute market could grow from $360 billion in 2025 to roughly $2.3 trillion by 2030. The announcement came two days after Hayes sold positions in ETH, ENA, UNI, ETHFI, AERO, PENDLE and ZAMA worth about $22 million in total.
