Harmony plans rollback after attack created 3 trillion ONE

Harmony, a layer-1 blockchain, plans to roll back its network after an attack created more than three trillion ONE tokens without authorization. The team wants to restore the network to its state on August 11 at 23:25:37 UTC, seconds before the first confirmed unauthorized mints. This operation would erase the forged tokens but also legitimate transactions completed after the recovery point, forcing exchanges, bridges, and users to retrace these operations. The investigation revealed that the attacker manipulated records of previously completed transfers, allowing old transactions to be processed again and creating new tokens without removing an equivalent amount elsewhere. The price of ONE fell approximately 42%, dropping from $0.00125 to $0.00072.
