Greek police arrested 17 people in Katerini, including nine military personnel, for an alleged AI-branded crypto pyramid scheme. The scheme reportedly collected approximately $8 million from around 10,000 investors who were promised returns doubling their money in 50 days. The operation allegedly ran without a regulatory license and used an entity called the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Team Association to lend legitimacy. Police seized approximately €295,090 in cash and electronic devices during the raid on September 30, 2026. Identified losses total €55,970 so far, though the investigation is ongoing and final figures could change substantially.
