Startup Micro1 has bid $12.5 million to acquire bankrupt Spirit Airlines’ data, outpacing Google’s offer of $10 million. The archive includes approximately 100 million emails and 500 million Microsoft Teams items. Unions and privacy advocates have filed legal objections, concerned that sensitive personal information may not be properly redacted or anonymized before transfer. A hearing is scheduled for September 16 in the bankruptcy court. Micro1, valued at $500 million in a September 2025 funding round, has pledged to exclude sensitive employment data and destroy raw records after processing.
