US District Judge Leonie Brinkema ruled on September 2 that Google will not be forced to divest its AdX ad exchange or its DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP) ad server, rejecting the structural remedies the DOJ had sought. The court opted for behavioral fixes and an internal compliance officer after confirming in April 2025 that Google maintained illegal monopolies in publisher ad servers and ad exchanges, holding an estimated 90-91% share of the publisher ad server market. Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is currently valued at roughly $4.11 trillion and its stock barely moved following the ruling. Both the DOJ and Google must now submit a joint proposed final judgment by October 2, 2026.
