Goldman traders are on pace for a record year. A close-up look at how they’re doing it

Goldman Sachs reported record trading revenues in the second quarter, with equities revenue surging 72% to a record $7.42 billion. The bank benefited from SpaceX’s IPO and a $25 billion bond sale during the quarter. It also co-led Alphabet’s historic $85 billion equity raise announced in June. Investment banking revenue jumped 55% to $3.4 billion, while FICC revenue rose 32% to $4.6 billion. The Global Banking & Markets division now accounts for over 75% of the firm’s total revenues, reaching $15.5 billion.
