DekaBank, the securities provider for Germany’s Sparkassen savings banks, launched crypto trading on Oct. 19, giving adult customers of participating banks a way to buy Bitcoin through the Sparkasse app. Five savings banks already offer this service, including Frankfurter Sparkasse and Sparkasse Karlsruhe, with a gradual rollout planned over the coming months. The service also allows trading of Ethereum, Solana, XRP and Polygon POL. Each transaction costs €0.99 plus a DekaBank spread, with a maximum of €250,000 per operation. Deka holds customers’ private keys in a collective wallet and only permits transfers to authorized crypto-asset service providers, excluding direct transfers to self-custody wallets.
