Four hooded men broke into a family home in Vendin-le-Vieil, Pas-de-Calais, overnight on September 20, binding both parents and their two children, aged 8 and 12. The father, who works in the cryptocurrency sector, was assaulted and forced to transfer 40,000 euros in digital assets. The attackers struck his 12-year-old daughter in the face with a car key before fleeing after more than three hours. No suspects have been arrested yet. France has recorded 77 kidnappings, confinements, extortions, and attempts tied to the sector since January, according to the interior ministry.
