France’s Sports Minister Marina Ferrari has ordered Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) president Vincent Labrune to enforce FIFA’s three-step anti-discrimination protocol against homophobic chanting for the Olympique de Marseille versus Paris Saint-Germain match scheduled for September 20, 2026 at the Stade Vélodrome. The directive follows reports from advocacy group Rouge Direct, which documented recurring discriminatory chants in Marseille’s supporter sections. The FIFA protocol requires match stoppage with a public announcement, then suspension with teams retreating to the dressing rooms, and finally match abandonment if behavior persists. Several of Ferrari’s predecessors, including Amélie Oudéa-Castéra and Gil Avérous, had already pressured the LFP without eliminating the problem.
