Former White House teleprompter operator must turn over more than $100,000 in profits and pay a $65,000 fine in insider trading settlement

Gabriel Perez, a former White House teleprompter operator, has been ordered by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to disgorge his full profits, exceeding $107,000, and pay a $65,000 civil fine. The regulatory authority also imposed a three-year trading ban. Perez used advance access to President Trump’s speeches to place bets on the prediction market Kalshi between December 2025 and February 2026. The Commission determined that this conduct constituted a breach of trust and confidence. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt described the situation as unfortunate and a disgrace.
