Fei-Fei Li urges technologists to better communicate AI benefits

Fei-Fei Li, Stanford professor and CEO of World Labs, warned at the Ai4 2026 conference in Las Vegas that extreme messaging around AI, whether utopian hype or apocalyptic dread, risks distorting public understanding and slowing adoption in areas where the technology could do genuine good. She emphasized that increased productivity does not automatically translate to shared prosperity and that honest conversations about economic structures are necessary. World Labs, the startup she co-founded, focuses on spatial intelligence, enabling machines to understand and interact with three-dimensional physical environments, with concrete applications in robotics, healthcare imaging, and manufacturing.
