The FCC will vote on auctioning 25 MHz of prime spectrum to support direct-to-device services from satellites to smartphones. The FCC approved SpaceX’s direct-to-cell system comprising 15,000 satellites, while Amazon requested approval to launch 5,105 internet satellites and acquired Globalstar for over $11.5 billion. These initiatives aim to eliminate cell phone dead zones and connect underserved users.
