The FBI and Dutch police arrested a 24-year-old Amsterdam resident on September 15, 2026, identified as one of the alleged leaders of the ShinyHunters cybercriminal group. The suspect, whose provisional detention was extended by 90 days on September 29, is suspected of participating in a criminal organization and attempting to incite two murders abroad. ShinyHunters, active since at least 2019, has been responsible for massive data breaches at Ticketmaster, AT&T, Santander, and Tokopedia, demanding bitcoin ransoms within 72 hours. This arrest follows previous enforcement actions: French national Sébastien Raoult, linked to the group, was sentenced to three years in prison in the United States in January 2024, and four suspected members were arrested in France in June 2025.
