Hyperbolic, an AI cloud startup founded in San Francisco by Jasper Zhang and Yuchen Jin, lets data centers offer unused GPU capacity to developers on demand or through reservations. The company serves between 200,000 and 250,000 engineers and developers, has surpassed an annualized revenue run-rate of $80 million, and says its prices are up to 50% to 75% below those charged by traditional providers. In October 2026, it submitted proposals for compute derivatives to the CFTC, including physical settlement in the form of GPU time, although no such contracts have yet been listed. The initiative aims to give investors a way to hedge against a slowdown in AI demand as CoreWeave shares have fallen more than 50% from their 2025 peaks while GPU infrastructure financing remains heavily indebted.
