The combined revenues of Fortune 500 Europe companies hit a record $15.5 trillion in 2026, equivalent to half of Europe’s GDP. Profits returned to growth with a 3% increase to just over $1 trillion, after a 5% decline in 2025. Volkswagen retained the top spot for the third consecutive year with revenues exceeding $363 billion. The finance sector dominates the ranking with 105 companies representing 24% of total revenue and 40% of profits, with HSBC the most profitable at $22 billion. The U.K. surpassed Germany for the first time with 76 companies versus 73, and margins have narrowed for the second consecutive year to 6.5% from 7.1% in 2024.
