Ethereum’s faster-exit plan would leave new validators waiting to earn

EIP-8061 aims to speed up Ethereum validator exits while keeping the 256 ETH per epoch activation ceiling, equivalent to about 57,600 ETH daily. As of October 15, 1,282,776 ETH were awaiting entry into staking with an estimated wait of 22 days and 6 hours. LIDO allows its share holders to earn rewards from already-active validators before their incoming ETH activates, spreading the idle capital cost across participants. With 36 million ETH staked, exit capacity could increase roughly fourfold, though no mainnet implementation date has been confirmed. Direct new validators would continue missing native rewards during activation, while faster exits would not reduce entry time.
