Ethereum core developers are preparing a major privacy overhaul for the Hegotá upgrade scheduled for 2027. This upgrade will include 66 improvement proposals, notably EIP-8141 for gas fee abstraction from pooled funds and EIP-8182 for a native shared shielded pool. Only EIP-7805, called FOCIL, has been confirmed so far for inclusion in Hegotá. Privacy Pools, a protocol supported by Vitalik Buterin, could directly benefit from these changes by eliminating the need for external relayers. The Glamsterdam upgrade is expected in Q4 2026 before Hegotá.
