Ethereum Delays Glamsterdam Hoodi Fork as Developers Test EIP-8037

Share

Ethereum developers postponed the activation of Glamsterdam on the Hoodi testnet, initially scheduled for October 26 at 17:42:48 UTC, without setting a new date. The decision, made during ACDE call #248, aims to further examine interactions between EIP-8037 and smart contracts already deployed on the mainnet. EIP-8037 increases the gas cost of creating state, which could require some contracts to adjust their gas allowances or hardcoded gas limits. The postponement also removes the Amsterdam execution layer and Gloas consensus layer activations from Hoodi’s configuration, along with the planned increase in the gas limit to 200 million, without altering the blockchain’s history or affecting mainnet users. Operators must update their software and configurations, while ETH fell about 1% over 24 hours, 4% over two weeks and nearly 14% over 30 days, trading near $2,400.
