Ethereum: ‘Any Teenager’ Can Derail the Glamsterdam Test on Sepolia

Share

The Glamsterdam test on the Sepolia network is scheduled for October 6. Ethereum developers are concerned that a malicious actor could create multiple builder identities, systematically overbid, and withhold transactions at no cost, since testnet ether has no market value. This mechanism, integrated into the protocol via ePBS (EIP-7732), provides unconditional payment to the validator even if the builder fails to deliver the block content. Client teams have only seven days to verify the software, compared to the usual fourteen days, limiting security checks before deployment. Another test on Hoodi is tentatively planned for October 27, but no date has been set for Glamsterdam’s activation on the mainnet.
