The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP) has crossed $100 billion in assets under management for the first time, attracting more than $12 billion year-to-date in 2026. The equal-weight fund has outperformed the market-weighted S&P 500 by roughly 3 percentage points through August 21, while the Mag 7 posted flat performance in the first half of 2026 compared to a 9.3% gain for the broader index. Investors are increasingly concerned about concentration risk, with the top 10 names accounting for nearly 40% of the S&P 500. Equal-weight strategies address this by giving every company the same allocation regardless of market cap. Despite their recent momentum, equal-weight ETFs still trail far behind the three largest ETFs (VOO, IVV, SPY), which collectively hold close to $3 trillion in assets.
