Elon Musk, CZ Trade Blows Over SpaceX Shares After $6.4B Binance Hack

Share

Changpeng Zhao asked Elon Musk to stop mocking Binance after the theft of $6.4 billion in cryptocurrencies, pointing out that the platform held SpaceX shares worth more than $1 billion following a $500 million investment in Twitter’s takeover. The Binance co-founder later clarified that he had never proposed selling those shares but wanted to show Musk the funds available to reassure him about the company’s financial health. Co-CEO Yi He said Binance’s annual revenue was sufficient to cover the losses without selling the SpaceX shares. Tether and Circle froze a total of $2.39 billion in assets linked to the thieves, while TRM Labs and Chainalysis attributed the attack to the North Korean group TraderTraitor, previously blamed for the $1.5 billion Bybit hack in February 2025.
