Economy: BoE stirs up oil, Bitcoin climbs anyway

The Bank of England held its key rate at 3.75% for the sixth consecutive time, while warning that oil price volatility extends the likelihood of a rate hike. In the United Kingdom, the pound fell to its lowest level since late July, at $1.336. In the United States, the labor market showed stronger than expected resilience with 196,000 weekly jobless claims versus 208,000 expected, while housing starts declined to 1.275 million units, below consensus. Bitcoin rose about 1%, passing above $76,400, despite mixed signals from central banks.
