Share

A wallet labeled « Drift Exploiter 5 » transferred 25,710 ETH to the Tornado Cash mixer on Oct. 20, executing 258 deposits over 2 hours and 13 minutes for a total of approximately $63.1 million at the prevailing price. The wallet held only 3.98 ETH remaining after the operation, conducted more than six months after the April 1 attack on crypto trading protocol Drift, which had seen approximately $280 million withdrawn according to the initial estimate. Mandiant’s investigation attributed the attack to the North Korean threat group UNC6862. Drift’s recovery mechanism via its Recovery Pool remains uncertain: as of Oct. 4, the redemption rate for DFX tokens stood at approximately 0.0104 USDT per DFX, close to one cent per dollar lost.
